The South West Zonal Director and Curator, National Museum of Unity, Aleshinloye, Ibadan, Mrs Oriyomi Pamela Otuka, has called for consistency to maximise huge tourism potential in Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.
Otuka stated this while speaking to journalists during the second International Tourism Summit held at University of Ibadan, Oyo State.
The curator noted that the tourism sector has been a major source of economy in some countries around the world including Brazil, Seychelles, Italy, United Kingdom, France, India, Saudi Arabia, among others.
She maintained that the sector thrives in these countries because needed infrastructural facilities are provided, which enable total involvement and upholding of such countries’ histories, cultures, sculptures, foods, heritage and legacies from one generation to another.
While lauding improvement of tourism programmes and policies under the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde over the last two years, Mrs Otuka reiterated the need for consistency for so as to achieve an enviable development.
She also lauded the vast contribution of the Oyo State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, which has greatly impacted the tourism sector.
