Secrets Of The Multiverse animation explores leadership, morality, others

With leadership, diverse character traits and personality of people being led as thematic preoccupation, Secrets of the Multiverse (SOTM), a science fiction, comic adventure is set to come alive in 2026.

The 13-episode screenplay targeted at teenagers and young adults is written by Emmanuella Amidu, a talented writer and voice actor currently in her final year at Carleton University, Canada, where she is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Economics with a concentration in Financial Economics.

Emmanuella began writing at a young age and quickly drew praise from many for her vivid imagination and expressive voice. She has authored several children’s books and recently completed her first screenplay, Secrets of the Multiverse, an ambitious project she started at 16 and completed at 19.

Speaking on the inspiration behind writing the screenplay, Emmanuella said: “I wrote Secrets of the Multiverse to remind me of who I am back home, all the things I’ve experienced, all the things I’ve learned, and it’s also for people my age, both men and women, to remember what makes us proud Africans.

“I just wanted something different. I wanted something new. I wanted something that kids wouldn’t be able to forget about, something that would touch the hearts of not only children but adults all over the world – something about strength and courage. I like to write from my heart. I like to write about personal experiences, friendship, love, leadership, etc.”

The Executive Producer of the animation series, Blessing Amidu, who produced the first feature-length animated film, Lady Buckit & the Motley Mopsters (LBMM) in 2020, said: “SOTM aim to remind teenagers and young adults that they can go on to do or to achieve anything they set their minds to. You will always achieve more with a little determination and resilience. SOTM will show them that they can do a lot more than they have set their minds to achieve.”

She said: “Animation has come a long way in Nigeria, though it’s still a growing industry – a green space but if you want to check from 2020 up until now, we’ve had a few more releases. We’ve had Iwaju and Mikolo. So, the industry is growing, and it’s growing at a fast pace as well.  However, there is a need for funding in the industry – the creative fund allocated for the space is not exactly easy to access.”

Directed by Adebisi Adetayo and Co-director: Robert Sledge, Secrets of the Multiverse is a spin-off of Lady Buckit and the Motley Mopsters (LBMM), which is the original title from 2020.
