NOA, BCOS bosses call for greater patriotism among Nigerians

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) and the Chairman of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS), Chief (Mrs.) Dotun Olaitan, have called for greater patriotism among Nigerians.

Olaitan and the NOA State Director, Mrs. Ajolayo Sinmiat Akande, made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the BCOS headquarters in Ibadan.

The visit was part of Mrs. Akande’s familiarisation tour since assuming office.

The NOA boss reaffirmed its commitment to deepening collaboration with the station as part of efforts to enhance public enlightenment and civic engagement in the state.

Akande conveyed the goodwill of the NOA Director-General, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, to the BCOS Chairman, Chief (Mrs.) Dotun Olaitan, and the entire management and staff of the station. She praised BCOS for its consistent support in promoting NOA’s programmes and commended the station’s role in driving national reorientation efforts.

“Like Oliver Twist, we are here to ask for more — more synergy, more collaboration — because we both share a passion for building a better Nigeria that can stand tall among the nations of the world,” Mrs. Ajolayo said.

She described BCOS as a “vital ally” in the agency’s mission to educate the public about government policies and national values, noting that the partnership has already yielded positive results.

In her response, the BCOS chairman expressed readiness to continue working closely with the agency.

She acknowledged the productive relationship established with the previous NOA director, Dr. (Mrs.) Olukemi Afolayan, and emphasised the need for sustained collaboration.

Chief Olaitan called for greater patriotism among Nigerians, encouraging citizens to consistently speak well of the country and pray for its unity and progress. She urged NOA to enhance its media presence with content that fosters national pride.

As a significant boost to NOA’s efforts, Chief Olaitan announced a 50 per cent discount on all jingles produced and aired on BCOS by the agency. She urged NOA to create impactful content that would inspire positive affirmations like “God bless Nigeria.”

Expressing gratitude for the generous gesture, Mrs. Ajolayo assured that the agency would leverage the opportunity to amplify messages on good governance, national values, and civic responsibilities across Oyo State.

“We will make the most of this opportunity to effectively communicate policies and programs that will benefit the people and promote unity,” she concluded.

The renewed partnership marks a significant step in bolstering media-driven public sensitisation and supporting national development through grassroots awareness in Oyo State.
