CIoD appoints Nolas-Alausa as new Director General

The Chartered Institute of Directors (CIoD) Nigeria has appointed Dr Taiwo Nolas-Alausa as the new Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the institute.

He succeeds Bamidele Alimi, who completed his second term of four years on July 31, 2025.

Nolas-Alausa, a learning and development Consultant with over 22 years of leadership experience across Africa, brings to CIoD Nigeria a dynamic blend of strategic insight, communication expertise and a deep commitment to institutional growth and capacity building.

Speaking on behalf of the institute, the President and Chairman of the Governing Council, Adetunji Oyebanji, said Nolas-Alausa’s extensive background in human capital development, strategic planning and leadership training makes him an invaluable asset as the institute continues to promote corporate governance, ethical leadership and executive development in Nigeria and beyond.

“We are confident that under his leadership, CIoD Nigeria will further strengthen its role as a trusted voice in the Nigerian business community and a beacon for boardroom excellence,” he said.

Nolas-Alausa has held several strategic roles in his career, most notably as the Director of Business Education Services and Training at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) and as Regional Head of Learning and Skills Development (West Africa) at ISON Experiences, where he designed and delivered training programmes for blue-chip clients such as MTN, Airtel, Union Bank, Multichoice, and others across Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa.

He also previously served as a Training Specialist at Globacom Nigeria Limited and held leadership roles in learning delivery at ISON BPO.

His vast experience cuts across multiple sectors, including telecommunications, finance, education, oil and gas, entertainment, and SMEs.

An academic and author, Nolas-Alausa holds a PhD in English and Comparative Literature from Babcock University, a Master’s degree in International Relations and Strategic Studies from Lagos State University and Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English from the University of Lagos.

He has taught at Lagos State University as an associate lecturer in the School of Part-time Studies and served as an assessor for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).

He is also Chairman of the Learning and Development Committee of the Nigerian Institute of Training and Development (NITAD), Lagos Chapter.

He is expected to oversee the strategic execution of the institute’s goals, build on existing partnerships, and lead initiatives to enhance the value of membership, public trust in governance, and organisational sustainability.
