The Kogi State Government has launched an intensive security response following the killing of Mr. Durowaye Folusho in Ayetoro Kiri, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, on Wednesday. The state has vowed to ensure swift justice and enhance security across the region.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, the government described the murder as “tragic and senseless,” adding that it has deeply shaken the local community and the entire state.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, the people of Ayetoro Kiri, and the entire Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area in this difficult time,” the statement read. “The loss of a valued member of the community under such violent circumstances is distressing, and we share in their grief.”
Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has directed all relevant security agencies to intensify efforts to track down those responsible for the attack. He also mandated a full-scale and expedited investigation to ensure that justice is swiftly served.
In a proactive move, the governor instructed the State Security Adviser to reinforce security operations in Ayetoro Kiri and surrounding areas. The objective, according to the government, is to safeguard residents and prevent similar attacks.
“The Kogi State Government condemns this act of violence in the strongest terms and assures the people that the safety and security of all citizens remain paramount in the administration’s priorities,” the statement added.
The government called on residents to remain calm and to assist security operatives by providing useful information that could lead to the apprehension of the perpetrators. “It is also expedient to provide credible intelligence that is required to prevent isolated occurrences such as the one that happened this morning,” Fanwo noted.
The state reiterated its commitment to upholding law and order, stressing that no effort would be spared in ensuring peace and justice across Kogi.
The murder of Mr. Durowaye has prompted widespread outrage and concern among local residents, with community leaders calling for immediate action to prevent further violence in the area. As investigations continue, the state government says it is determined to hold those behind the attack accountable.
