Abunasty Nigeria Limited, an indigenous oil and gas company, has announced its entry into the real estate sector and plans to invest in renewable energy as part of a broader diversification strategy.
Speaking in Kano at a dinner marking the company’s 10th anniversary, Chairman Alhaji Abubakar Nasir Tsanyawa said the firm is widening its capital investment base to tap into emerging opportunities in multiple sectors.
“With the emerging reality in the global market, the company has made inroads in real estate, while deploying strength on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and other renewable clean energy to support a greener environment,” Tsanyawa said. “Oil may not remain as dominant in the next decade, so we are also looking at solar and other green energy solutions.”
Tsanyawa explained that the move was driven by shifts in global energy demand and the need to secure long-term competitiveness and profitability. He said that beyond profit-making, Abunasty Nigeria has contributed to economic growth through the creation of over 100 jobs and various corporate social responsibility initiatives.
Recounting the company’s beginnings, Tsanyawa said Abunasty started as a transport business before becoming an independent petroleum marketer with multiple filling stations and a fleet for distributing petroleum products. Over the past decade, it has expanded into import and export, real estate, and special-purpose machinery.
“Alhamdulillah, we are grateful to Allah who made it possible. Many businesses started before and after us, but not all have reached this level,” he said.
Commenting on developments in the oil industry, Tsanyawa noted that policy changes, particularly the commencement of operations at the Dangote Refinery, have reshaped competition. “Some policies favour us, others don’t, but by God’s grace we overcome the challenges and move forward,” he said.
He expressed confidence that by 2035, Abunasty Nigeria would be a leading player not only in oil and gas but also in real estate and renewable energy.
The anniversary dinner featured the presentation of long service awards to senior staff and excellence awards to selected heads of departments for their commitment to the company’s growth.
