The Delta State Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has presented cheques totalling N37,663,936 to 35 families of officers who died while in active service.

The gesture, carried out under the IGP Family Welfare Scheme and Group Life Assurance, is aimed at supporting the families of the deceased officers.

During the presentation, Abaniwonda conveyed the appreciation of the nation and the Nigeria Police Force for the sacrifices made by the fallen officers. He stressed that the welfare of families of both serving and deceased personnel remains a priority for the IGP.

“The cheques will serve as a boost to the families and a way of showing them that, even though their loved ones are no longer with us, the Force has not forgotten their sacrifices,” he said.

One of the beneficiaries, Miss Chidinma Paul, expressed gratitude to the IGP for his generosity, noting that the money received would be used wisely.
