Ogewho-Iyede Primary School shines in cognitive exam, earns community praise

Parents and other stakeholders have felicitated with the Ogewho-Iyede Community Primary School in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State on the overwhelming success recorded in the Cognitive/Placement Examination.

Head Teacher of the school, Comfort Onoruema, who broke the news in an interview with The Guardian, revealed that all the pupils came out in flying colours.

“Most candidates at the examination made Distinction. There was no pass,” she said.

This, she attributed to the hardworking teachers, the dedication of the pupils, and the unwavering support from parents and the Ogewho-Iyede Community.

According to her, the collaborative effort between the school management and stakeholders created an enabling environment for effective teaching and learning.

Onoruema further commended the Delta State government for providing instructional materials and infrastructural upgrades, noting that such interventions played a significant role in boosting the pupils’ performance.

The Guardian reports that since the approval of the school five years ago by the State Government, this is their first Cognitive/Placement Exam written in the school.

The head teacher expressed optimism that with sustained commitment and encouragement, the school would continue to maintain and even surpass its current academic standards in future examinations.

Also speaking, the Secretary of Iyede Kingdom, Chief Henry Onoriode Imo, applauded the state government for its continued investment in rural education, stressing that such support was key to bridging the educational gap between urban and rural areas.

He urged the government to sustain the provision of modern learning facilities, recruit more qualified teachers, and ensure prompt payment of staff salaries to further motivate the teaching workforce.

Chief Imo, who also hails from Ogewho-Iyede, lauded parents and guardians for prioritising the education of their children/wards despite prevailing economic challenges, adding that the remarkable performance of the pupils was a testimony to what could be achieved when communities unite behind a common goal.

He appealed to philanthropic individuals and corporate bodies to partner with the community in sponsoring outstanding pupils and constructing more school classrooms.

“Our joy today is not just about the excellent results,” he said. “It is about the hope these children represent for the future of Ogewho-Iyede and Delta State as a whole.”
