• Adeleke meets Georgia political leaders, others
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, yesterday, urged residents of the state not to allow electoral robbers to thwart their will in readiness for the August 8, 2026, gubernatorial poll.
Adeleke, who just concluded a roundtable discussion with Georgia’s top political leaders, mayors, and business leaders in Atlanta, United States (U.S.), called on Osun residents to actively participate as the continuous voters’ registration exercise commences nationwide, describing it as “a critical civic responsibility”.
In a statement by his Spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor underscored the importance of the registration exercise for individuals, advising all eligible voters to ensure they are duly captured in the voters’ register.
According to the statement, “we must not only update our registration details, but we should also ensure we vote and protect our votes when the time comes. We must be getting ready to stop electoral robbers if they ever attempt to thwart the electoral will of the people.”
Adeleke, who described the 2026 governorship poll as critical to the sustainable delivery of good governance in Osun State, implored voters who might have lost or misplaced their cards to get new ones, stressing, “We all must exercise our voting right to sustain a listening and responsive administration in the state.”
He, however, charged all state officials and leaders of thought across the local councils to mobilise their people for the exercise, even as he expressed optimism that the electoral commission will conduct a seamless operation in the public interest.
The Guardian learnt that the U.S. parley was part of the administration’s efforts to build cross-border partnerships and drive investment into key sectors of Osun State’s economy.
The roundtable meeting, hosted in Atlanta, Georgia, and coordinated by the current Chairman of the Osun State Water Corporation at Zanzibar Cuisine and Lounge, Samuel Oyedotun, brought together Osun indigenes in Georgia, young entrepreneurs, policy makers, city mayors, political and business leaders from all sectors, including real estate, fintech, automobile, agriculture, among others.
Adeleke, accompanied by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Bunmi Jenyo, and the Commissioner for Rural Development, Gani Olaoluwa, reiterated his administration’s commitment to driving foreign direct investment into Osun State through infrastructure and business-friendly reforms.
He said that harmonised tax bills and improvement in the ease of doing business initiatives had positioned Osun as a top destination for investors, while deliberate investment in infrastructure and agriculture topped the list of his administration’s priorities.
