Ndume condemns fresh Boko Haram killings in Borno

Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has decried Saturday’s Boko Haram attacks on Ngoshe in Gwoza Local Government Area and Mussa in Askira/Uba of the state, which left several people dead and others homeless over the weekend.

Reacting in a statement on Sunday, the senator lamented the continuous targeting of innocent citizens, especially farmers and youths.

The Guardian reported that five farmers were killed on their farmlands in Ngoshe on Saturday morning, while gunmen invaded the community at night, killing three youths and setting houses and shops ablaze.

“I am profoundly saddened by these senseless killings. Our people, whose only pursuit is peace and livelihood, continue to fall victim to insurgents,” he said.

Ndume showered encomium on troops under Operation Hadin Kai but urged the federal and state governments to strengthen security in rural areas. He called for more deployment of personnel, sophisticated weapons, and air support to protect farming communities.

He also urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies, stressing that unity and resilience are vital in confronting insurgency.
