Wayfare Travels promotes travel incentives as alternative to cash bonuses in Nigeria

Lagos-based travel management company, Wayfare Travels, is driving a new trend in Nigeria’s corporate reward system by replacing traditional cash bonuses with curated travel experiences designed to boost employee motivation and loyalty.

Founded in 2018 by Kolawole and Temitope Omoyeni, the company has steadily built a niche around incentive travel programmes, offering organisations tailored packages that combine leisure, team building, and cultural immersion.

Speaking on the company’s approach, Kolawole Omoyeni said the shift reflects changing expectations among Nigerian employees. “We wanted to create incentives that resonate on a personal level. Travel does that. It broadens horizons, fosters camaraderie, and leaves a lasting impression,” he explained.

Wayfare Travels has organised trips for staff and distributors of major firms to international events, including the FIFA World Cup in Qatar and the Mobile World Congress in Spain. The company says such experiences leave a stronger and longer-lasting impact on staff engagement compared to one-off cash rewards.

Temitope Omoyeni added that the model is designed to ease the burden on organisations by handling all logistics. “Our trips are more than just vacations. They are strategic investments in human capital. We handle every detail, from flights and accommodations to activities and cultural immersion, so that employees can focus on enjoying the experience and connecting with their colleagues,” she said.

The company has begun extending its operations beyond Nigeria, targeting markets across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. Wayfare Travels maintains that its expansion will be driven by the same philosophy—aligning corporate goals with travel experiences that improve employee morale and strengthen organisational culture.
