No fewer than 500 residents of Agiliti, Mile 12, Lagos State, benefited from a free medical outreach by a Non-Governmental Organisation, Heritage Advancement Forum (HAF).
The free medical checkups and treatments marked the conclusion of the forum’s fourth and final medical intervention to rural areas. The exercise featured a range of services such as diagnosis and treatment of malaria, typhoid, eye defects, high blood pressure, blood sugar level, HIV, pregnancy test and hepatitis.
The forum’s President, Odion Anegbode, described the impact of the healthcare outreach as massive. He said over 500 residents, including children, benefited from the free healthcare aside receiving drugs and health advice.
He called for support for the forum, expressing readiness to expand the healthcare intervention to other communities. Head, Medical Team at HAF, Dr. Gerald Chinaza, who observed a rising hypertension cases among adult Nigerians, advised individuals in their early 30s and above to regularly go for medical checkups.
He said: “The achievement at today’s free medical checkups and treatment is that it goes beyond the medication, but people getting to know that they have life-threatening pathologies like high blood pressure.”
One of the beneficiaries, Ismail Taiwo, who had an eye ailment, thanked the group for the timely intervention. Another beneficiary, a pensioner, Michael Adekogbe, urged wealthy individuals to support the foundation, thanking the group for their service to humanity.
