Boxing: Balmoral to unleash ‘Chaos in the Ring’ on Independence Day

Group CEO, The Balmoral Group, Dr. Ezekiel Adamu, says all hands are on deck to ensure a successful staging of the October 1st boxing night themed: Chaos in the Ring slated for Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos.

Fielding questions from reporters on Google Meet on Saturday, Dr. Adamu assured Nigerians that adequate security has been put in place to protect lives and properties, calling on lovers of boxing to come out en masse to celebrate Nigeria’s 65th anniversary with mouth-watering bouts involving both local and international boxers.

He revealed that Cruiserweight contender Brandon Glanton (20-3, 17 KOs), fresh off the back of his toe-to-toe war with former World Champion Chris Billam-Smith, will be in Nigeria for the bout, while another top African legend and former IBF World Champion Richard Commey and Ray Seitzhanov will be in the country to entertain the crowd.

Besides, former British, Commonwealth, and European Champion Dan Azeez (21-2-1, 13 KOs) returns for a bucket list bout to fight in Nigeria on Nigerian Independence Day in a proud nod to his heritage.

“After the Rumble In The Jungle” this is the first time we are having a global boxing event will be taken place Africa, and ‘Chaos in the Ring’ will go down as one of biggest boxing event to be hosted in Lagos, Nigeria and Africa as a whole.

“A lot has been put in place to bring this bout to Nigeria. We can guarantee Nigerians that it’s going to be a lasting experience for everyone who attends. We are not a security group, but there will be adequate security for the event.

“I can guarantee you that Lagos is safer than some of these countries. We hope to give our visitors a befitting memory when they leave. DAZN and Sky Sports will be televising it live.

“This historic fight night on Nigerian Independence Day marks a monumental moment for African boxing,” he said.

Also on the card, Nigeria’s Basit Adebayo (9-0, 4 KOs) will face Tanzania’s Tony Rashid (17-4-3, 11 KOs) for the WBO Africa Title, and someone’s 0 has got to go as Kerem Ozman (5-0) faces Tosin Osaigbovo (12-0, 8 KOs), whilst undefeated Yusuf Adeniji (12-0, 10 KOs) will feature.

The event marks a groundbreaking collaboration between Nigeria’s leading boxing promoter and former Olympian and World Champion Amir Khan, blending international stars with Nigerian talent to celebrate the nation’s pride and potential on the global stage.

The event will be broadcast worldwide live on DAZN.
