A Socio-political group, Ekiti Advancement Frontiers (EAF), has sought more support for Governor Abiodun Oyebanji ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial poll, stating that his track record on education, agriculture, infrastructure development, human capital development, economic diversification and youth inclusion has drawn commendations from Ekiti people at home and in the Diaspora.
In a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Mr Maxwell Olu-Ajayi, the group added: “The screening of aspirants will take place from Tuesday, September 23 to Wednesday, September 24, 2025, with the publication of screening results slated for Friday, September 25, 2025. The Delegate Congress will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, followed by the “Delegate Congress Appeal on Friday, October 3, 2025.”
EAF’s Convener and Team Head, Dr Adedeji Oso, while addressing the press in Ado-Ekiti after their inaugural meeting, downplayed any threat against Oyebanji’s ambition, describing it as a figment of imagination.
He said: “This is a political period in the state, and as such, interested people are expected to be involved in the process.
“As the driver of the vehicle of governance in the Fountain of Knowledge since 2022, our governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, has been able to stabilise the body polity of the state across party lines through consensus-building, facilitating visible achievements also in the state.
“Oyebanji is a home-grown governor. We cannot afford to patronise politicians without that intrinsic home-imbued understanding of Ekiti.”
Adedeji added: “As witnesses of Governor Abiodun Oyebanji’s policies matched with profound leadership acumen, we must all rally round him to continue the good work he has started for the progress of our dear state.
“In the political landscape of Ekiti since 1996, what we are witnessing today under his administration is unprecedented. He has enjoyed the political support of stakeholders across party lines. This explains his managerial quality and leadership posture as the Executive Governor of Ekiti. Oso said contrary to the result of the 2022 election, Oyebanji would win in the 16 local governments in the state.
“This is a democracy where opposition should be encouraged.
We encourage other aspirants to play the game according to the rules without necessarily heating up the polity with lies and negative propaganda. We owe the state, irrespective of our political interest, our collective commitment to peace, unity and development.
“With the political trajectory of the opposition parties in the state, Governor Oyebanji will be returned as the Governor of Ekiti State in 2026.”
