SHINE Bridge Global (SBG), a United States-based food science and innovation company, has announced plans to establish a food processing hub at the ARISE IIP Shagamu-Iperi Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ) in Ogun State as part of its expansion into Nigeria.
The Chairman of SBG, Dr. Tony Bello, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Monday in Lagos. He said the company’s Board of Directors resolved on September 13 that while some Rooti brand co-manufacturing would continue in Germany, SBG would set up operations in Nigeria to drive its cassava-based product line.
The company is introducing three cassava premixes under the Rooti brand—RootiFufu (instant fufu, amala style), RootiBake (baked goods premix), and RootiSnacks (snacks premix). Bello said these products would target Nigeria’s food service and retail markets, with plans to test-launch them locally by Christmas 2025.
According to him, the Ogun SAPZ facility will provide scalable capacity not only for the Rooti brands but also for multi-product processing of cassava, soybeans, and speciality foods.
“By investing directly in Nigeria’s SAPZ ecosystem, we are not only saving costs but also creating long-term value for communities, investors, and the cassava value chain,” Bello said.
He explained that localising operations in Nigeria would reduce logistics and blending costs while enabling stronger partnerships. He noted that the company would work with Value Ingredients Limited, Graceco, and Spectra Ingredients for packaging and distribution.
Bello added that operating from the SAPZ would ensure cost efficiency, local value creation, and effective market execution for cassava-based products.
“Shine Bridge Global is committed to creating high-quality, affordable, and culturally relevant cassava-based food products for Nigerian and global consumers,” he said.
