No fewer than 148 Nigerians returned from Sudan on Thursday, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has announced.
In a statement shared on Saturday, the agency revealed that it facilitated the return of the migrants.
The returnees were received by the NEMA Kano Operations Office upon their arrival at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport.
Among the returnees were 25 adult males, 27 adult females, 39 male children and 57 female children. They were all transported to the Chila Hotel for profiling and documentation by relevant stakeholders.
NEMA further noted that the returnees were not enrolled in any reintegration programme.
“The returnees were not enrolled in any reintegration programme and were discharged and given transport fare by providing them with ATM cards for withdrawals shortly after the completion of documentation and profiling.
The reception exercise was well-coordinated and successfully executed,” the agency noted.
