Police raid drug hideout in Enugu, arrest suspect

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested one suspect, recovered loud, colos and other exhibits after raiding a drug hideout.

In a statement by the spokesman of the Enugu command, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the raid was carried out in compliance with the directive of the state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa.

Ndukwe added that operatives of Unity Division, in collaboration with Forest Guards, on 19th September 2025 at about 7:00 a.m raided an alleged notorious container shop used for peddling illicit drugs at Amaowere-Nike, Enugu.

“The intelligence-guided operation led to the arrest of one suspect, Elias Ukachukwu Agu (male, aged 43), who, upon interrogation, confessed to being involved in the sale of illicit drugs and substances. Exhibits recovered include fourteen (14) cups and twenty-five (25) sachets of a substance suspected to be Canadian Loud (commonly called Loud), six (6) sachets of a substance suspected to be Colorado (commonly called Colos)—both variants of cannabis—one (1) weed crusher, and two (2) packets of Rizla,” he said.

The suspect will be arraigned in court once investigations are concluded, with
CP Giwa cautioning the public, especially young people, against engaging in the sale, purchase, or use of illicit drugs. He reassures residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to ridding Enugu State of crime and criminality while soliciting continued support and cooperation.
