Lois Andrew Ihwo, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Dee Utensils, has been honoured with the Award of Excellence in Affordable Luxury Kitchen Solution at the Africa–UK Trade & Investment Conference & Awards 2025 in London. The ceremony, which took place at the Royal National Hotel, recognised entrepreneurs and institutions making a significant impact in Africa and the United Kingdom.
Ihwo’s recognition followed what organisers described as a rigorous nomination and assessment process coordinated by The Business Executive Group in partnership with the African Chamber of Trade and the International Business Council. Her company, Dee Utensils, was singled out for its contribution to providing durable, stylish, and affordable kitchenware for global consumers.
In her acceptance speech, Ihwo expressed gratitude to the organisers and emphasised the role of collaboration in building stronger enterprises. “Research and experience prove one thing: when women succeed, societies thrive. Women reinvest in families, education, healthcare, and community growth. Their impact is generational,” she said.
She also highlighted the barriers women in business still face, particularly in accessing finance and international opportunities. “That is why I emphasise: Inclusion is not charity, it is strategy. Empowering women in trade is not an act of kindness — it is an economic necessity. When we give women access to international markets, networks, and fair trade opportunities, economies grow, innovation accelerates, and sustainable impact is created,” Ihwo added.
Ihwo, who also runs Dee Scent Global, a premium fragrance brand, said her background in cooking inspired her to design products that withstand everyday use while maintaining elegance. She noted that Dee Utensils works closely with international partners to bring unique designs to its customers worldwide.
Her London recognition comes months after she was named among the 100 Most Notable Peace Icons at a leadership and business summit in Kigali, Rwanda. In July, she also appeared on Arise 360 TV, where she discussed themes around luxury and lifestyle.
Friends, colleagues, and associates have since sent messages of congratulations, with many describing her recognition as a milestone for African women entrepreneurs seeking visibility on the global stage.
