Osinbajo, Awosika rally women to authentic leadership

Wife of the former Vice President of Nigeria, Dolapo Osinbajo, has called for a new mindset on leadership, urging women in leadership positions to embrace self-awareness and authenticity as tools for effective and impactful leadership.

Addressing women executives, entrepreneurs, and emerging leaders from across Nigeria’s business landscape yesterday at the Executive Woman Summit (TEWS) 2025, Osinbajo commended the resilience, hard work and courage of the female executives and professionals in breaking barriers across all sectors.

She, however, urged them to take pride in their journeys and celebrate their achievements despite the challenges they encounter in their daily activities.

Speaking on the theme of the event, ‘Leading from Within: An Authentic Approach to Leadership’, Osinbajo emphasised that true leadership begins with self-awareness and a deep appreciation of one’s heritage.

In her remarks, founder of The Chair Centre Group and former Chairman of First Bank of Nigeria, Mrs Ibukun Awosika, also advised women not to compromise their values.urging them to find practical strategies to assert influence and command respect especially in a male-dominated fields like business, finance or corporate governance.

Convener of the summit, Bola Matel-Okoh, founder of BMO Advisory Services and the Women’s Lifestyle Hub, observed that most women were in a state of disalignment, struggling to fit into a particular mode and what people expect of them.
