Niger State Police Command has disclosed that on October 9, 2025, at about 4.50 pm, the police patrol team attached to New-Bussa Division, in Borgu Local Government, with vigilante members, while on routine patrol along Luma-Wawa road, intercepted and arrested one Yahaya Dashu, 40 years of Daba area, New-Bussa, with a locally made pistol and one live cartridge.

The statement issued to newsmen in Minna by the command spokesman, SP Wasiu Abiodun, explained that during interrogation, the suspect stated that the pistol belonged to him and it was for his personal protection.

The statement added that the suspect claimed that he bought it from a blacksmith in Babana area of the local government. It further stated that the suspect has been transferred to SCID Minna for further investigation and prosecution.

In a related development, the Niger State Police Command revealed that on October 13, 2025, at about 8.30 am, a distress call was received at Maje Division in Suleja local government that one Shuaibu Adamu, 26 years of Kaduna road and a member of a hunters group, had shot one Adamu Saidu, 46 years, at Suleja junction with a locally made revolver gun.

The police operatives of the division rushed to the scene and discovered that the said Adamu Saidu, a driver, was shot at the back. He was immediately rushed to General Hospital Suleja for medical attention, while Shuaibu was arrested with the gun, adding that the suspect is under investigation.
