Zaa Nurty is an artist whose story is stitched together by culture, faith, and relentless ambition. Raised in an interfaith household with four siblings, he grew up with Christian values woven deeply into his identity, a grounding force that would later echo through his artistry. Music, however, was his earliest sanctuary. From the infectious rhythms of King Sunny Ade and the revolutionary energy of Fela Kuti to the soulful consciousness of Bob Marley, young Harold found his heroes not only in their melodies but in their ability to use sound as both a weapon and a balm. These icons laid the foundation for what would become the Zaa Nurty sound; a blend of Afrobeats roots, lyrical honesty, and cross-cultural rhythm.
With a root so rich and deep, Zaa Nurty has put together a body of work set to give many an opportunity to explore and enjoy the richness of his sound. In his words he shares that, “My Ep With Love, Zaa Always was inspired by my journey in life such as my wins, struggles, lifestyle, love and the phase i was in life. It was channeled from all around me at the point in time when it was a bitter sweet experience but it was worth it.”
What sets Zaa Nurty apart is his ability to honor his roots while pushing boundaries. His music doesn’t mimic Afrobeats tradition so much as it extends it, weaving in global textures while remaining unmistakably grounded in Lagos’s pulse. He is an artist who turns personal experience into universal narrative, crafting songs that can
soundtrack a dance floor as easily as they can soundtrack heartbreak or reflection.
On his creative process on this project he stated that, “It varied for each song, most songs were created differently because it came from a place in my life experience at the point. I will like to say most songs were created from freestyles and things that were happening so it was easier to talk about. Dirty Diana was created on facetime, Lavida was created on facetime with my producers on the call while we wear just yapping on the phone.
Whisper was a one take freestyle that became a song. Marseille, Ariwo and Currency were made same night just from vibes, trips and all my recent memories, while Faraway was made while I was shooting dirty diana video.”
As Zaa Nurty steps into a new chapter with “With Love, Zaa Always,” he isn’t just releasing music but he is sharing pieces of his journey, culture, and soul with the world. His sound is both a tribute to his roots and a bold stride into new territories, positioning him as a voice to watch in the evolving Afrobeats landscape. With his blend of authenticity, innovation, and heartfelt storytelling the budding act is carving out a space that is uniquely his.
