Sydney Olympic Games gold medalist, Enefiok Udo-Obong, has been honoured by the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) as the Technical Official of the Year 2025.
The Nigerian sprint legend and distinguished sports administrator earned the prestigious recognition following his exceptional performance as Technical Director at the 3rd African U18 and U20 Combined Athletics Championships held earlier this year in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Udo-Obong’s remarkable technical expertise and organisational acumen were instrumental in the smooth coordination and successful execution of the continental event, which drew participation from several African nations.
In addition to his role in Abeokuta, Udo-Obong also served as the Technical Director of the 1st Niger Delta Games held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, contributing significantly to the successful inauguration of the regional multi-sport event earlier this year. His growing international influence was further highlighted when he was appointed Technical Director of the Asian U18 and U20 Championships held in Saudi Arabia in March 2025, where he is also the Technical Development adviser.
A celebrated Olympian, Udo-Obong is best known for anchoring Nigeria’s men’s 4x400m relay team to gold at the Sydney 2000 Olympics and bronze at the Athens 2004 Olympics. Beyond his athletic feats, he has established himself as a respected sports administrator, author, and advocate for athlete development.
His latest recognition by the CAA further cements his reputation as one of Africa’s most brilliant and versatile figures in athletics.
