Amuwo-Odofin Maternal Child Centre boosts healthcare delivery

Commissioner for health Lagos State Dr. Jide Idris has restated the state’s government commitment to apply technology in area of health so as to provide qualitative, affordable and sustainable services to the populace.

Idris made the call during the town hall /stakeholders meetings of Amuwo-Odofin Maternal Child Centre, where the host community came together to proffer solutions on how the hospital will serve them better.

In attendance were various stakeholders ranging from Representatives from Commissioner of Police-Area E, Festac Town, Area Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Zonal Head, Lagos State Transport Management Authority (LASTMA), Divisional Officer, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Muslim and Christian communities and Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN). The Commissioner, who was represented by Mrs. Joan Olayemi, applauded the hospital for the initiative, saying the meeting will help the government to know how to serve the masses better.

Olayemi said the most important aspect of the initiative is to fortify and satisfy the consumers of healthcare. She added: “it is good that this is coming now, we need more support, and we cannot do it alone. The government is not taking health issues for granted. I employ you to do whatever it takes to improve service delivery.”

She mentioned that the Service Charter Care and Support was created by the government to achieve qualitative care, support and the establishment have been performing to change attitude of public workers to the patients.

Her words: “We need this town hall meeting to think how to be sustainable and for you to tell us the problem and it’s timely and discusses way forward discuss challenges and sustains in a bid to provide better delivery.”
Olayemi added that theservice charter will facilitate the customer’s right in passion to save and empower healthcare, to ask questions on health and service delivery.

“Our principles include our visions, mission and core values to respect and continuously meet high standards expectation and perform. We want to maintain high ethical standard and sensitive to cultural and societal values. We are committed to monitor performance and achievement in evidence backed facts. We do not just want to do it but to do it better,” she said.

Olayemi commended the hospital as one of those keeping the guidelines of the service charter Medical Director, Maternal Child Centre, Dr. Ania Ayoola said the town meeting is crucial so as to know how to improve in serving the community better.
