Gombe State government has approved the construction of a new deputy governor’s office in the state at the cost of N1.337 billion. State commissioner for works, housing and transportation, Usman Maijama’a Kallamu, disclosed this during a press briefing on the outcome of the state executive council meeting held on Wednesday.
Our correspondent reports that the state government has also reconstructed the government house, Gombe and is at present building new state house of assembly, state high court complex and state secretariat known as three arm zone.
Kallamu said the state executive council approved the construction of the new deputy governor’s office because the current one is far away from government house.
According to him, the new office would be built at the old Gombe Jewel hotel beside government house where offices of all emirs and chiefs in the state were also currently under construction.
Similarly, the council he said, also approved the construction of a new “befitting state fire service station”, at N1.275 billion, noting that at the moment, the fire fighters are sharing office with local government veterinary office.
Other projects approved according to the commissioner, were; the completion of five mege colleges at N3.5 billion which is additional amount on the previous contract sum following the decision to upgrade the colleges into two storey buildings to accommodate increasing students.
He assured that the colleges would be completed by January 2026. Also approved is the construction of Police Divisional office at Shehu Abubakar district in the state capital at N461 million.
