Soludo approves 30 new public primary schools

Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has approved the establishment of 30 new public primary schools in communities across the state where none currently exist.

The approval was given at the first Executive Council Meeting and the 22nd Anambra State Executive (ANSEC) Meeting following the governor’s re-election in office.

A statement issued by the state government and made available to newsmen in Awka, the State capital, stated that this provision would ensure that every child in the State, regardless of location, has access to quality primary education.

Governor Soludo, who received a thunderous ovation from members of the council for his overwhelming victory in 21 out of 21 areas, emphasised that education remains the bedrock of his administration’s development agenda.

He observed that the new schools would be strategically located in underserved and remote communities, many of which currently lack functional public primary schools.

“No child in Anambra should have to trek long distances or be denied basic education because of where they were born,” Soludo was quoted as saying during the meeting. “We are building a future where learning opportunities are evenly spread and accessible to all.”

The newly approved schools are expected to come equipped with standard facilities, qualified teachers, and digital learning tools in line with the administration’s Smart Schools initiative.

In other news, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued a Certificate of Return to Governor Soludo, who was declared the winner in the 2025 gubernatorial poll held last Saturday.

Soludo received the certificate yesterday at the Commission’s office in Awka from the Supervising Electoral Commissioner in charge of Anambra election and Chairman, Tenders Board, Ken Ukeagu, who said the document is not a sign of victory, but a renewed hope for his people, adding that he should approach the new era with a lot of commitment, unity and enterprise.

He congratulated Soludo and his deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, wishing them a peaceful tenure. Also speaking, the Anambra State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Queen Elizabeth Agwu, said she was happy seeing the excited faces of the people of Anambra, adding that it was a promise kept.

Shortly after receiving the Certificate, Soludo said: “There is hope for Nigeria. I praise President Bola Tinubu for allowing a free and fair electoral process in Anambra.

“Anambra people hail INEC and security operatives for conducting a free, fair and credible contest last Saturday in the state. The state made history as the first state where the new INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, had his first litmus test and came out successfully.
