Yutee Rone to present ‘Textures of the Ocean’ collection in Lagos on 30 November

Nigerian luxury womenswear designer Yutee Rone is set to unveil her new collection, Textures of the Ocean, at an exclusive fashion presentation scheduled for 30 November 2025. The collection marks a significant moment for the designer, reflecting her evolving creative expression, continued commitment to craftsmanship, and enduring connection to nature.

According to Rone, the inspiration for the collection emerged during a recent trip to Mykonos, where a renewed encounter with the Aegean Sea informed both the aesthetic and conceptual direction of the work. “My travels and my love for nature have always influenced my collections,” she said. “My experience in Mykonos deepened my appreciation of the ocean, its movement, its calm, and the quiet strength it embodies. This shaped the foundation of the collection.”

Textures of the Ocean captures various dimensions of the sea, including fluidity, depth, and serenity. These qualities are reflected in the use of soft draping, architectural curves, and silhouettes designed to evoke the gentle rise and fall of waves. The colour palette features pale water tones alongside deeper blues, sandy neutrals, and pearlescent details.

Fabric choices such as silk, organza, and satin serve as the primary canvas for the narrative, while textured materials referencing shoreline elements bring additional depth. Embellishments are applied with restraint, offering subtle points of reflection.

Rone explains that beyond its visual qualities, the collection also explores emotional resonance, noting parallels between the nature of the ocean and the inner strength of women. “The ocean teaches grace and purpose,” she said. “These qualities reflect the women I design for.”

The presentation will be held at Pitstop Village in Ikoyi and is designed as an immersive experience. Spatial design, music, staging, and movement have been arranged to echo the calm and contemplative atmosphere that informed the collection.

The 2025 edition of the show is supported by Martell, one of the world’s oldest cognac houses. The collaboration highlights shared values of craftsmanship, refinement, and artistic expression. Guests will experience a curated Martell activation aligned with the themes of the presentation.
