As the campaign for the Kwara State 2027 governorship race gathers momentum, the All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders and aspirants in the Northern Senatorial District on Tuesday agreed to work for the zone to produce the next governor.
The stakeholders and the gubernatorial aspirants reached an agreement at a meeting in the Ilorin residence of a prominent Kwara North leader, Sen Mohammed Ahmed.
They said: “All the aspirants have pledged to work together towards the actualisation of the district’s goal of producing the next governor of the state.”
A communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, well attended by APC stakeholders from across the five local governments making up the senatorial district, appreciated the convener of the forum, which was the third of its kind, and charged him to reach out to other groups with the same idea “for effective coordination, positive realisation and easy actualisation of the main objective.”
The communiqué, signed by Sen Mohammed Ahmed, acknowledged the efforts of monarchs, members of the Kwara North Youths Forum, and the Kwara North Elders Council with respect to the demand to work for the gubernatorial seat to be conceded to the zone in 2027.
The stakeholders advised all aspirants from the district to carry out their pre-campaign activities “with a sense of unity of purpose and should be devoid of rancour and character assassination.”
The stakeholders urged the convener to reach out to other groups with the same mission for effective coordination, positive realisation, and easy actualisation of the main objective.
They implored all aspirants to work for the actualisation of the district’s goal of producing the next governor.
“The meeting agreed to set up an inclusive committee that would consolidate the activities of the various groups involved in the aspiration for the gubernatorial slot towards the achievement of the objectives with ease.
“The meeting acknowledged and appreciated the efforts by both the Kwara State and Federal Governments in solving the problems of the recent armed bandit attacks and kidnappings of people, which took place in some parts of the Kwara North and South Senatorial Districts of the State,” the communiqué concluded.
