Actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has said her new film, Behind The Scenes, is driven by passion, purpose and a desire to tell stories that connect with people.
Akindele made this known in a post shared on her X and Instagram pages on Thursday.
She said her goal for the project is to create a story that everyday people can relate to, adding that passion and purpose remain central to her work.
She wrote, “Passion and purpose are what drive me forward, and for me, my purpose is to tell stories that connect with everyone. That’s exactly what you’ll find in BEHIND THE SCENES.”
The filmmaker also said the project was completed with a dedicated team.
She noted, “I poured my heart into this project, surrounded by an incredible, hardworking cast and crew who gave their all. Together, we’ve created something truly special, and I can’t wait for you to experience it.”
Behind The Scenes, produced under the Funke Akindele Network, is a comedy drama that follows a creative team navigating pressure, ego clashes and on-set chaos. The story captures how filmmakers manage disagreements, deadlines and unexpected challenges while working on a project. The cast includes Jide Kosoko, Dorathy Bachor and Jadrolita.

The film blends humour with real-life industry struggles, showing tension, teamwork, emotional moments and behind-the-scenes realities that viewers rarely see. It also portrays the personal pressure that comes with working in a demanding environment.
Akindele announced that the United Kingdom premiere will take place on December 4 at Odeon Cinemas in Greenwich, while the Nigerian cinema release will begin on December 12.
Although she did not reveal full plot details, the 48-year-old filmmaker said the film carries messages she believes will connect with audiences, adding that she hopes viewers will feel the emotions behind the story.
Her announcement comes as the film industry prepares for a crowded December cinema schedule.
Akindele’s films often attract attention due to her long record of successful productions.
In December 2024, her film Everybody Loves Jenifa (ELJ) broke records with ₦511 million in 12 days, becoming the highest-grossing Nollywood film of the year. The achievement made it the fastest Nollywood film to reach the ₦500 million mark.
Celebrating the success at the time, Akindele wrote, “Thank you, Lord!! Thank you everyone!!! I couldn’t have done this without your love and support!!!! God bless you all!!”
In its first week, the movie sold more than 71,700 tickets, earning ₦72 million in its opening weekend alone.
