The mother of the teenage girl claiming to be the daughter of Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has accused the singer of abandoning his first child and mishandling past DNA tests.
In a statement posted on her daughter’s Instagram account, Ayo Labinjoh said she has been protecting her daughter’s mental health after years of public scrutiny.
The statement was shared as a caption on Anu’s page.
According to her, the earlier messages that Davido allegedly sent to Anu reflected the singer denying paternity and warning the family against pursuing the matter further. In the messages, he reportedly promised to publish copies of five DNA tests online and in newspapers.
Labinjoh also addressed public claims about the origins of the controversy, saying: “So I heard what if he was poor, I wouldn’t fight for my child’s identity since the September 2014 fake DNA test?” She insisted that her daughter’s request for a DNA test is about establishing identity, not financial gain or publicity.
According to her, Davido was a rising singer in 2013 when they met at the Dami Duro concert afterparty in Ibadan and not “super rich.”
The mother criticised media personalities and family friends close to Davido for not intervening.
She alleged that figures including Daddy Freeze and Dele Momodu had publicly defended the singer rather than helping arrange an independent DNA test.
Labinjoh claimed that the teenager has been verbally abused, bullied, and threatened while pursuing clarity about her parentage.
She also referenced past interactions with Davido, including a video call she said he initiated in November 2025 and a financial gesture during a naming ceremony in 2013, which, according to her, indicate he was aware of the child’s existence but did not act responsibly.
Labinjoh concluded her statement with a pointed message: “You are a boy, not a man! You are a dad, not a father!” She said her daughter has been fighting for her identity for years, not for attention or money.
The dispute dates back to earlier public statements by Anu. In January 2026, the teenager asked Davido for a DNA test on her Instagram page, claiming she wanted to establish her identity.
In the past, Davido’s former lawyer, Prince Bobo Ajudua, had stated that DNA tests were conducted at two reputable facilities, including one chosen by Anu’s family, and that the results reportedly showed Davido was not her father.
Earlier this week, Davido also maintained that five DNA tests had been carried out, all returning negative results.
