Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, has assembled a total of 26,160 graduands for its 7th combined convocation slated for next Friday.
Professor Marietu Tenuche, Vice-Chancellor of the university, made this known at a pre-convocation press conference in Anyigba on Wednesday.
According to Prof. Tenuche, “A total of 26,160 graduands will be awarded first degrees across the five academic sessions.”
She confirmed that a number of 178 students bagged first class degrees.
The VC assured its students that the management would maintain its focus on campus security, responsible work ethics and institutional discipline, as well as the welfare of staff and students.
She added, “Our administration has significantly transformed the physical outlook of the university. Internal roads that were previously in a state of disrepair have been reconstructed through Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), FERMA interventions and state government support.
“Student welfare has remained central in our administration. We have improved water supply, electricity, hostel facilities, campus lighting and security. Democratic student governance was encouraged, and our fully equipped Entrepreneurship Centre now offers practical skills training in tailoring, shoemaking, soap production, fish processing and other vocational skills.”
The VC acknowledged that with the strong backing of the then Visitor, His Excellency, Alhaji (Dr.) Yahaya Adoza Bello (CON), and her institutional memory arising from being a pioneer staff member and having served three times as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, the university was able to turn things around positively to the glory of Almighty Allah.
She said challenges were identified not as limitations but as opportunities for reform.
“The political will demonstrated by both the immediate past Visitor and the current Visitor, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, remains the bridge between vision and reality.
“A major strength of our administration has been the continuity of government support,” she said.
