IRRESPECTIVE of challenges, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged members of the Lagos Country Club to always imbibe the culture of resilience and unity.

Speaking at the 2026 New Year Party of the Club held in Lagos last weekend, Sanwo-Olu advised members to see the club as a symbol of unity, harmony, and the can-do spirit.

Represented by the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, he recalled that the club and Lagos State share similar qualities, which include resilience, courage, endurance, can-do spirit and the ability to bounce back when people feel it is all over.

In his welcome address, president of Lagos Country Club, Seyi Adewunmi, noted, “we are not just a social gathering; we are a vibrant ecosystem of over 3,000 financial members. This assembly represents the pinnacle of the Nigerian elite: high-ranking professionals, captains of industry, and, most importantly, influential opinion leaders.”

He also unveiled the club’s vision for 2026, which include integrity in governance, enhanced membership experience, infrastructure renewal and strategic partnerships.

On his part, chairman of the Board of Trustees, Kola Oyefeso, said: “As we celebrate the treasure of a new year, we are called to pause, to reflect, and to renew our covenant with one another. It is a very enduring family.
“In every enduring family, love is not merely spoken. It is demonstrated through understanding, tolerance, and a steadfast commitment to the collective good. These are the pillars upon which Lagos Country Club has been built, and these must remain the hallmarks of our future.”
