In an effort to expose youths and students to first-hand technology transfer, MiGO Mobile is partnering with Covenant University to enable Nigerian students to participate in world-class technological research and development.
The partnership culminated in the establishment of a Care Centre within the university, alongside the award of scholarships to selected students.
At the launch of the Care Centre and scholarship awards ceremony held at CUCRID Auditorium, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director, MiGO Mobile, Dr Ademola George Evans, described the initiative as a product of vision and bold decision-making.
The event also saw MiGo Mobile announce the award of scholarships to two Covenant University students, Ayomide Olaoluwa Ogunmola, a 100-level student, who received a N10 million scholarship covering full tuition from 100 to 500 level and N2.2 million to David Ibiyemi, a 500-level student. Four other students also received ambassadorial awards. They included Osadare Anjolaoluwa Hephzibah (100 level); Owonubi Isaac Oluwasemilore (200 level), Odeleye Ifeoluwa Akorede (300 level) and Anjola Oluwa Aniyikaye Oluwatunmise (400 level).
Evans went on to explain that their focus goes beyond products to long-term impact and capacity building, stating that it is really not about the product but about building a legacy. He further disclosed that their products would soon be available in select MTN outlets across the country before expanding nationwide.
He expressed confidence in the partnership with the university, describing it as a collaboration built on shared values and proven capacity.
He also emphasised their commitment to after-sales service and maintenance, noting that quality products are driven by strong support systems and backed by in-depth research and development. According to him, they currently operate about seven maintenance offices in Lagos with plans to expand nationwide to 127 locations through partnerships.
Outlining their product range, Evans revealed that they offer the products students need, including laptops, smartphones, tablets, smartwatches and power banks.
Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Timothy Anake, expressed excitement over the inauguration of a new care centre, describing it as a major boost for both the university and the Ota community. Noting that it would benefit students, staff, faculty members and residents of the community, he said such initiatives reflect the true role of universities in community development.
