The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO) has expanded its business range into the hospitality sector with the unveiling of Sapphire Hotel, a luxury in-terminal hotel, located within the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Terminal II, Lagos departure area.

A statement by the Assistant General Manager, Corporate Communications, NAHCO, Tayo Ajakaye, said the 20-room facility, operated by NAHCO Travel and Hospitality Limited (NHTL), a subsidiary of NAHCO Plc, was designed to provide premium comfort and convenience for international travellers, transit passengers on layovers and business executives seeking seamless airport access.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Group Executive Director, Commercial and Business Development, NAHCO, Saheed Lasisi, said the project reflected the company’s commitment to service excellence and innovation within the aviation value chain.

Lasisi explained that NAHCO continued to position itself as a trusted partner for hassle-free travel, expressing optimism that the experience at Sapphire Hotel would be second to none in the country.

Also commenting, Chief Executive Officer of NAHCO Travel and Hospitality Ltd, Ms Ruky Ogbetuo, said the hotel was conceived as a comprehensive hospitality hub rather than a conventional lodging facility.

According to her, the hotel features tastefully furnished rooms with premium amenities, a business office, workout and exercise area, laundry services and complimentary breakfast, alongside diverse lunch and dinner menu options.

She pointed out that the facility also enjoys immediate access to the Sapphire Lounge, a 127-seater premium passenger lounge equipped with a VVIP section and a dedicated prayer area.

“Whether a passenger is on a long layover or needs to remain just seconds away from their boarding gate, this facility perfectly balances luxury with functionality,” she added.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by NAHCO’s top management, including the Group Managing Director, Muyiwa Olumekun; the Chief Financial Officer, Adeoye Emiloju; and the Group Executive Director, Corporate Services, Dr Sola Obabori.

Also, in attendance were key stakeholders from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), international airlines and frequent high-net-worth travellers.

The hotel is strategically located just a few steps from the airport check-in and boarding gates.
