LIFE is full of barriers—spiritual, emotional, relational, financial and institutional—that attempt to stop people from fulfilling God’s purpose. Many destinies remain stagnant not because of a lack of potential, but because of the limitations erected by enemies, circumstances and even self-doubt.
The rebuilding project embarked on by Prophet Zerubbabel and the children of Israel became stagnated at a certain point and they could not continue. The barrier of stagnation hindered the work. However, there is a greater force than every opposition we may face; that is the power of the living God. When God arises, barriers collapse, and gates open. He specialises in making ways where there are no ways. God said to Zerubbabel that the mountain, which hindered the project is going to be removed (Zechariah 4:7a). Mountain represents obstacles, problems, barriers and challenges. God is a barrier-breaker and there is no barrier that is too strong for God to remove.
God’s power is greater than any barrier. God said to Zerubbabel the mountain is going to move, but not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord of Hosts (Zechariah 4:6). The presence of divine power nullifies every human or demonic resistance. Things that our power and might cannot move, the Spirit of Godwill move them. When you come to a point where you cannot move again, you should engage the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit removes obstacles and breaks mountains before us. Isaiah 45:2 says: “I will go before you and will level the mountains; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron.” God has the authority to open and shut doors (Revelation 3:7). No enemy can withstand God’s move. Psalm 24:7–10 declares that the King of Glory has power to enter and scatter every opposition. Barriers may be real, but God’s power is superior. Jeremiah 32:27 says: “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?” God’s power removes both visible and invisible hindrances. 2 Kings 6:16–17 shows us how God opened Elisha’s servant’s eyes to see the invisible barrier surrounding them.
The presence of the Holy Spirit breaks limitations and releases divine ease. Yokes are destroyed by the anointing, not human effort. Isaiah 10:27 assures us that the burden shall be lifted and the yoke destroyed because of the anointing. The anointing is God’s power in action. Acts 10:38 says Jesus was anointed with the Holy Ghost and power to do good and heal. The anointing lifts you above natural limitations. Zechariah 4:6–7 reminds us that it is not by might nor by power, but by God’s Spirit. David broke the barrier of fear and intimidation because of divine anointing and defeated Goliath (1 Samuel 16:13; 17:45–50). When the Spirit moves, nothing remains the same. Ezekiel 37:1–10 demonstrates that the Spirit revives dead bones into a great army. Faith is the force that connects you to God’s unlimited power. Faith sees the invisible and believes the impossible.
Hebrews 11:1 teaches that faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Faith moves God to act on your behalf. Matthew 9:29 says: “According to your faith be it unto you.” Faith in action breaks limitations (Mark 2:5–12). The friends of the paralysed man demonstrated faith in action as they lowered their friend through the roof so that Jesus will heal him.
