The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two women in connection with alleged child trafficking and rescued three teenage girls who were reportedly lured with promises of employment.

Operatives of the State Intelligence Department (SID), acting on credible intelligence, intercepted the teenagers on February 17, 2026, at Adamawa Sunshine Motor Park in Yola.

The victims, as identified by the command, are Naomi Linus, 14; Agnes Thomas, 16; and Patience Justine, 15.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the command disclosed that preliminary investigations showed the minors were allegedly deceived and brought to Yola, and were being prepared for transportation to Abuja under the pretext of securing menial domestic jobs.

Police authorities described the circumstances as suspicious and consistent with patterns of child trafficking and exploitation.

According to the statement, the two suspects arrested are Hasiya Yuguda, 35, of NEPA area, Jimeta, Yola North, and Ummulkhairi Abubakar, 40, of Wuro-Hausa, Yola South.

Further investigations also implicated Simon Boniface, 38, of Bitakoyali in Zing Local Government Area of Taraba State. He is currently assisting police in ongoing inquiries.

The rescued teenagers, as made known by the police, are presently in protective custody, while efforts are being made to trace and reunite them with their families.

Police authorities said investigations are ongoing to determine whether the suspects are linked to a broader trafficking network.

The state Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, reiterated the command’s zero tolerance for child trafficking, exploitation, and abuse of minors. He urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and to carefully verify any employment or travel arrangements involving their children.

Members of the public were also advised to promptly report any suspicious movements or activities involving minors to the nearest police station.
