A technology firm, SystemSpecs, has concluded plans to deepen youth engagement with its Children’s Day Essay Competition (CDEC).

It noted that the initiative is part of efforts to prepare young Nigerians for national development challenges.
The company said that with nearly half of Nigeria’s population under the age of 25, the urgency of equipping young people with the skills, confidence and mindset to address real-world problems had become more critical than ever.

In a statement, SystemSpecs noted that preparing the next generation to think critically, apply technology intelligently and contribute meaningfully to society was essential to Nigeria’s long-term growth.

It explained that its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives reflect a sustained commitment to building a better Nigeria through information technology by exposing children early to societal challenges and encouraging practical, solution-oriented thinking.

The company said sustainable national progress depends not only on robust systems, but also on nurturing the innovators and leaders who will design and manage them.
To this end, the group said it would continue to expand structured initiatives that promote digital awareness, problem-solving skills and responsible citizenship among young people, with the essay competition forming a key part of this effort.

Now in its seventh edition, the competition is open to students aged nine to 17 and provides a platform for them to interrogate relevant questions and propose technology-informed solutions.
Unlike conventional essay contests, it said CDEC positions children not merely as observers of societal challenges but as capable contributors whose ideas can help to shape safer, more inclusive and more effective systems.
