MACBAN urges Uba Sani, CDS, to probe arrest, killing of members

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has called on the Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, and the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, to probe the alleged arbitrary arrest, brutality and extrajudicial killings of its members in Southern Kaduna.

In a press statement, the Kaduna State Chairman, Abdulhamid Musa Albarka, called on the state government and the military authorities to probe the ugly trend, which is capable of breaching the peace attained in the area.

The areas listed in the statement include Jema’a, Jaba, Kagarko, Kachia, Kaura, Kauru, Sanga and Zangon Kataf local government areas.

MACBAN cited an incident in Kajim Village, Kaura Local Government Area, on January 12, 2026, where some houses belonging to some Fulani herders were invaded, and four of their members were arrested.

Those arrested were identified as Yusuf Musa, Auwal Adamu, Kamal Abdullah and Abubakar Ahmad.

The group claimed that when parents of the arrested youths demanded to gain access to see their wards, they could not get a positive response from the security agencies.

“We have so far petitioned the state government on the need for the governor, Senator Uba Sani, to come to our rescue by probing the growing tension in the area,” Albarka said

Albarka said, “While we commend the efforts of the security and the state government in tackling the various security challenges, some bad elements are bent on sabotaging their efforts.”

“To this end, we want to make the following demands. We appeal to the government and security agencies that this bad elements should be investigated and sanctioned if found guilty,” he added.

The MACBAN chairman stressed, “We also appeal to the government to institute an independent probe into the activities of some local government chairmen in the area because they are not helping matters.”

“We equally plead that the compensation should be given to family victims, while urging its members to remain calm and law-abiding as authorities investigate the claims,” he added.
