The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has tracked 35 Federal Government projects worth ₦4.607 billion in Zamfara State, the commission disclosed on Saturday.
The tracking exercise, led by Dr. Murtala Bankano, was conducted in the state capital, Gusau. He said the initiative aimed to ensure value for money and proper implementation of projects.
Dr. Bankano explained that the Constituency and Executives Project Tracking Initiative (CEPTI) was designed by ICPC in collaboration with the Budget Office of the Federation, National Institute for Quantity Surveyors (NIQS), media partners, and other stakeholders to monitor Federal Government projects nationwide.
The phase-eight exercise in Zamfara covered projects in six sectors: Education, Health, Water Resources, Power, Empowerment, and Agriculture.
While some projects were found to be partially completed or with deficiencies, contractors have been directed to return to sites to complete or correct their work.
The ICPC noted that the NIQS report is awaited to determine the specific value and quality of the projects in question.
Dr. Bankano added that the initiative’s primary goal is to ensure the effective execution of constituency and executive projects according to standard specifications.
