Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have intercepted two drug traffickers attempting to smuggle cocaine and opioids through the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) and the Seme land border.

On February 16, 2026, one Rabi Muhammad, a 35-year-old businesswoman from Kano, was stopped at the Seme border with a fake pregnancy designed to conceal 3,200 capsules of tramadol.

Director of Media and Advocacy of the NDLEA is a statement said that “A full body search revealed the absurd, her pregnancy was fake and her baby bump was a pink calabash”.

Femi noted that the trafficker revealed that she intended to sell the drugs in Cotonou, Benin Republic.

On the same day, NDLEA operatives in Kano intercepted 41-year-old Michael Gohouri (also known as Anunwa Onyinye Michael), during the clearance of passengers on an Ethiopian Airlines flight to Milan.

When the officials conducted a body scan, it indicated that he had ingested illicit substances, leading to his detention and observation during which he excreted 82 wraps of cocaine weighing 1.49 kilograms.

Gohouri, who reportedly expected to receive €5,000 for delivering the drugs, has a complex background, claiming both Ivorian and Nigerian heritage.

In a separate operation, Mr. Kolapo Oladapo Raji, the CEO of Trans Fortress Global Resources, was arrested on February 12 in Lekki, Lagos.
Raji had been under NDLEA surveillance since 2025 and was apprehended with 89.20 kilograms of cannabis.

“Hundreds of millions of naira paid to me as profit motivated me to establish my own independent drug distribution channel,” Raji was quoted saying.
