Oyo Rep gives constituents N100m, backs Tinubu’s re-election bid

The lawmaker representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Aderemi Oseni, has disbursed N100 million to constituents as part of an empowerment initiative to boost small businesses, support youths and strengthen grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Oseni made the disclosure at the general meeting of the Remi Oseni Committee of Friends (ROCOF) in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State, where beneficiaries drawn from across the constituency received financial grants.

The empowerment package included N1 million cheques presented to 20 selected youths, alongside N100,000 grants to market women and artisans to expand their businesses and improve their livelihoods.

Speaking at the event, Oseni said the intervention was part of his commitment to advancing the welfare and economic prospects of his constituents, particularly youths, artisans and traders who form the backbone of the local economy.

“We are not just asking them to gather for grouping sake, but for the betterment of all, and to see how we can move as a team to achieve our common goals,” he said. “Our goal is to liberate people who have been imprisoned politically and to ensure that indigents are properly empowered.”

Oseni, who chairs the House Committee on the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), also used the occasion to reaffirm his political alignment with President Bola Tinubu, pledging to mobilise substantial support for the President ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to him, ROCOF would work assiduously to deliver one million votes for Tinubu in the forthcoming presidential contest, stressing that the support group was established to harmonise party members and strengthen the grassroots base of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He described the organisation as a platform for networking, encouraging commitment among party faithful, and consolidating the party’s structure from the federal to the ward level.

The lawmaker further attributed the success of the recently concluded APC ward and local government congresses to what he called the dedication and unity of party leadership across all tiers.

“One of our focal areas is to help ourselves in the areas of education, youth empowerment, skills acquisition and support for market men and women to progress in their businesses. We are also doing this to strengthen APC across all levels,” he said.

Oseni noted that the large turnout at the combined constituency programme reflected growing confidence in the APC and signalled readiness for victory in 2027.

Receiving defectors from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) at the gathering, he described their decision as a testament to the APC’s inclusive vision and developmental agenda.

He maintained that sustainable empowerment, grassroots engagement and political unity would remain central to his legislative agenda, adding that the N100 million intervention was only one of several measures designed to uplift constituents and foster long-term economic growth.

Observers at the event said the programme underscored the increasing role of constituency-based empowerment initiatives in shaping political mobilisation and consolidating party structures ahead of the next election cycle.
