Dangote refinery to supply 65m litres of PMS daily

Dangote-CNG

Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals is set to supply between 60 and 65 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) daily to the domestic market, a volume that exceeds current national consumption and positions the country for sustained fuel self-sufficiency.

The refinery is also expected to export between 15 and 20 million litres of surplus petrol daily, effectively reversing Nigeria’s long-standing dependence on imported refined products.

President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, disclosed the development in Lagos, confirming that a structured offtake agreement had been concluded with selected marketers to guarantee nationwide distribution and eliminate supply instability.

“We have agreed an offtake framework to supply up to 65 million litres daily for the domestic market; any surplus, estimated at between 15 and 20 million litres, will be exported,” he said.

Nigeria’s average daily petrol consumption currently ranges between 50 and 60 million litres. The refinery’s planned output therefore surpasses domestic demand, marking a decisive break from decades of reliance on imports that exposed the economy to foreign exchange volatility, shipping delays, and recurring scarcity.
