The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has announced the reconstitution of its Board of Directors, signalling a renewed strategic focus on infrastructure development, operational efficiency across its franchise areas.

The announcement came during a media briefing at the company’s corporate headquarters in Ibadan, led by the newly appointed Chairman, Tunde Afolabi.

The board’s shake-up follows the resignation of three nominees of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON).

Afolabi described the leadership transition as a “milestone in the company’s corporate journey” that emphasises renewal, stability, and sustainable growth.

Other board members include Ayodeji Ariyo Gbeleyi (with Michael I. Magaji as Alternate Director), Dr Taiwo Afolabi, Prof. Oladapo Afolabi, Tunde Fayinka, Oluwaseyi Akinwale, and Adeolu Ijose.

Afolabi assured that the leadership restructuring would not disrupt services, saying: “All IBEDC offices will remain open, and field operations will continue uninterrupted. The new core investor has committed to sustained capital investments in feeder rehabilitation and expansion, transformer upgrades, substation improvements, and the replacement of obsolete network components.”

The company also plans to accelerate the adoption of digital technologies, including enhanced outage management systems, improved billing platforms, expanded smart metering deployment, and digitised customer engagement channels aimed at transparency and service efficiency.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has planned a working visit to IBEDC as part of the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to enhance electricity service delivery across the country.

The visit will provide the minister with an opportunity to engage directly with IBEDC management on the urgent need to improve power supply, operational efficiency, customer relations, and overall performance across Ibadan, Oyo State, and the wider area under the company’s influence.

The minister is expected to use the visit to underscore the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring that distribution companies meet their obligations under the ongoing power sector reform framework.
