THE Squash Section of the prestigious Lagos Country Club successfully hosted the third edition of the Geophase Annual Closed & Club Pro Tournament, an event dedicated to celebrating both current and former professional squash players. The competition saw intense participation from club professionals who once earned a living from the sport and are now active members of various squash-playing clubs across the country.
Sponsored by Geophase Resources Limited, the tournament reinforced the organisation’s commitment to the development of squash in Nigeria.

“At Geophase, we believe in promoting squash not just for the current generation but also for those who have carried the Nigerian flag in the past. This tournament is our way of honoring them and ensuring they remain a key part of the game’s development in the country,” Adeolu said.
The competition featured multiple categories, with thrilling performances from top squash players. In the Club Pro Category, Wasiu Bello emerged victorious, defeating Stephen Peters in the final.
In the Men Category, Dr. Bunmi Apata claimed the top prize, edging out Dayo Tifase in the final. In the Veteran Category, Alaga Mike Adekoya took home the trophy, beating Murphy Yussuf in the final.
Meanwhile, the Plate Category was won by Kola Adeyemi who triumphed over Marvin Ukperegbu in the final.
