President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Lebara Nigeria on its official launch, describing the development as a strong vote of confidence in the country’s expanding digital economy and its position as a leading technology and investment destination in Africa.
The President noted that Nigeria’s telecommunications sector remains one of the nation’s most dynamic economic pillars, recording a 5.78 per cent year-on-year growth in the third quarter of 2025 and contributing over 14 per cent to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
He commended the leadership and partners of Lebara Nigeria, particularly the Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Teniola Stuffman, for their commitment to broadening access to telecommunications services, generating employment opportunities, and strengthening Nigeria’s digital infrastructure.
According to President Tinubu, investments of this scale are crucial to deepening financial inclusion, driving innovation, and accelerating sustainable economic growth.
He also acknowledged the presence of the British High Commission at the launch, represented by the Deputy High Commissioner, Mr. Jonny Baxter, noting that the participation reflects the enduring economic and diplomatic ties between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
The President said such collaborations underscore Nigeria’s openness to responsible foreign investment and strategic global partnerships that support national development priorities.
President Tinubu further recognised the contributions of the Chairman of the Advisory Board, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, and other advisory board members for their leadership, expertise, and confidence in Nigeria’s growth prospects.
He stated that initiatives like Lebara Nigeria would significantly advance job creation, youth empowerment, enterprise development, and economic diversification.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to reforms, the President pledged to sustain a stable, transparent, and investment-friendly environment where innovation and private enterprise can flourish.
President Tinubu wished Lebara Nigeria success as it commences full commercial operations and called for sustained collaboration between the public and private sectors to drive Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda.
