Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen, has reiterated that he is very happy to be playing his club football at Galatasaray of Turkey.
Osimhen said this during a post-match interview with the official website of Galatasaray following their 3-1 victory over Corendon Alanyaspor on Saturday.
He scored a goal and set up another to inspire Galatasaray to the commanding win over Alanyaspor in a Turkish Super Lig encounter.
The Nigerian international rendered an assist in the 58th minute, setting up Lucas Torreira for Galatasaray’s second goal.
The 27-year-old thereafter made the points safe for Galatasaray in the 83rd minute, scoring after an error by Alanyaspor goalkeeper Paulo Victor before coming off for Mauro Icardi three minutes later.
Having has so far scored 10 goals and contributed four assists in 16 league appearances for the Yellow and Reds this season, Osimhen shared his thoughts with the club’s media.
“I am very happy at Galatasaray. Every player is emotional. I celebrate most of the time, but there are times when I don’t celebrate. I was emotional in the last match, and I had a reason. Since I arrived, both my family and I have been having a great time with the president, the coach, the team, and everyone,” he said.
“They make everything very easy for us. I am happy here. I love my club, I love my coach, I love my fans. We conduct our business within a framework of mutual love and respect .”
On how he and his teammates at Galatasaray are taking the remainder of the 2025/26 season, the former Napoli striker said: “We’re taking it one match at a time.
“The Beşiktaş match is a critical one. We’re taking it one match at a time. Of course, it will be a big match. A very high-quality team awaits us, but we also have a very high-quality team. We’ll go there for three points! It won’t be easy.
“First the Beşiktaş match, then Liverpool, but let’s not forget that we also have a cup match against the team we just played against! There are many more matches ahead of us until the end of the season.”
On why he gave the captain’s armband to İlkay Gundogan, Osimhen said that the German “is someone I respect very much, he is very valuable to me. He is a person known worldwide. He is both calm and motivating. He is someone we can always talk to.
“He is very visionary. When he brought me the captain’s armband, it felt strange. I gave it back so he could lead us. He helps us every time he comes into the game. He is someone who deserves love.”
The striker also spoke about the things the Turkish Super Lig club have been doing for him since he arrived, saying they are “very valuable to me.”
Osimhen added: “I didn’t know the fans were prepared. It was a surprise. Everything they’ve done since I arrived is very precious to me. First, I came on loan. Words can’t describe it. Such loving fans. We have a fanbase that creates a special bond with the players, beyond just football. I’m truly very happy.
“I agree with what was written on the banner. We are a family, and family is more important than anything. I’m at a club I love, with people I love very much. We’re together through good times and bad! We’re enjoying every moment. I’m very grateful for their support.”
Osimhen also spoke about Galatasaray’s win over Alanyaspor, explaining that “the important thing is that we won the match.”
