The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has begun to align its digital platforms and operational procedures with the National Single Window (NSW) system.
The Federal Government is expected to launch the NSW for trade on March 27, 2026, as part of broader reforms designed to modernise the country’s trade and port operations through digital technology.
The agency stated that these steps are designed to ensure seamless integration into the new platform and enhance regulatory efficiency in trade-related processes.
According to the management in a statement, yesterday, NAFDAC is updating the regulatory documentation and guidelines on its website to reflect integration with the new digital portal.
The management said the NSW is “a centralised digital platform that integrates all government agencies involved in import and export processes into a single electronic portal.”
The agency said that the initiative was designed to streamline trade procedures by enabling importers, exporters, and government agencies to submit, process, and obtain approvals for trade-related documentation through a unified electronic interface.
NAFDAC said that it had made significant investments over the years in the digitisation of its regulatory processes, including the deployment of electronic platforms for product registration, permits, inspections, and import and export clearances.
These initiatives, it said, had provided a foundation for seamless integration into the NSW framework.
The agency added that the new system would enhance regulatory transparency, reduce duplication of processes, and minimise delays in cargo clearance while supporting Nigeria’s commitment to improving the ease of doing business.
NAFDAC said its management remains committed to leveraging digital technology and inter-agency collaboration to strengthen regulatory oversight while facilitating legitimate trade.
It, therefore, urged importers, exporters, manufacturers, and other stakeholders involved in the trade of regulated products to familiarise themselves with the NSW platform and comply with updated regulatory procedures that will accompany the implementation of the system.
