***Says party is dead on arrival in South South
The South South Reawakening Group (SSRG) has expressed strong disapproval of the formation and launch of the Nigerian Democratic Party (NDC), by the former Governor of Bayelsa State present Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial.Distrist, Sen. Seriake Dickson.
The group, led by Joseph Ambakederimo, condemned the NDC’s establishment as a selfish act driven by animosity towards political figures in the Bayelsa West Senatorial District, particularly Governor Douye Diri.
The SSRG believes that the NDC has no place in Bayelsa’s political landscape and is merely a disruptive force aimed at causing chaos and undermining the current peace and development in the state.
They urge Senator Henry Seriake Dickson to reconsider his involvement with the NDC and instead focus on collaborating with Governor Diri for the state’s progress.
The group emphasizes the importance of unity and progress over personal ambitions, highlighting the historical context of political alliances in the region.
“For the benefit of the Bayelsa people who may not understand what is at stake..What is at stake is the Bayelsa West Senatorial district seat and nothing more. A man who has benefited from the unwritten agreement is the one now riding roughshod to destroy the same agreement that has propelled him to the Senate and wants to continue to perpetuate himself.
“The NDC is dead on arrival in Bayelsa State and even across the larger region. The NDC will have no place in Bayelsa political space as there are no justifiable reasons given for the formation of the group but a clear design to distract governance in the state, to alter the peace the state is presently enjoying and pitch Bayelsan against one another.
“One Man ambition should not be allowed to ignite chaos in the state . We need elder Statesmen and women speak out and caution trouble makers to desist from the unholy path they are about to embark on.
“Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, a very respectable individual should have a rethink and join hands with Governor Douye Diri and continue with the overall development of the state in the positive path that is evolving.
“As much as we hold Senator Henry Dickson on a very high esteem we should also not fail to admonish him when there are tendencies of him perhaps making mistakes or continue in a subterranean belligerent manner”, the statement added.
They caution against supporting the NDC, which they view as a self-serving endeavor that will not benefit the people of Bayelsa.and calls for a unified approach to governance and development, urging political leaders to prioritize the well-being of the state over individual interests.
