A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sola Osolana, has urged Nigerians to continue praying for the country and its leaders, expressing optimism that the nation is gradually making economic progress.

Osolana made the call on Wednesday during a Ramadan lecture and food distribution programme organised by the Sola Osolana Foundation for residents of Agege, Lagos.

The outreach, which attracted a large number of residents, was aimed at supporting the less privileged during the ongoing Ramadan fasting period. Beneficiaries received various food items to help them break their fast.

Speaking at the event, Osolana said Nigerians must take advantage of the Ramadan and Lenten seasons to pray for peace, unity and progress in the country.

According to him, the spiritual significance of the period should inspire citizens to seek divine guidance for the nation and its leaders.

“In Nigeria today, we are on the right path. The economy is improving, and this is the time for citizens to pray for our leaders to guide the nation to greater prosperity,” he said.

He also called on Nigerians to pray for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, asking God to grant the nation’s leadership wisdom, strength and good health to steer the country in the right direction.

The APC chieftain explained that the Ramadan outreach was part of the foundation’s annual humanitarian programmes designed to support Muslims observing the fast and other vulnerable members of the community.

“This is something we do every year for our constituents in Agege. Ramadan is a time of sacrifice and reflection, and it is important that we support those who may not have enough food to break their fast,” he said.
Osolana noted that although the event was organised during Ramadan, the distribution of food items was extended to both Muslims and Christians in the community.

He said the initiative was aimed at strengthening unity and promoting compassion among residents, regardless of religious or ethnic differences.

Beyond the Ramadan programme, Osolana disclosed that the foundation carries out several social intervention initiatives targeted at improving the welfare of residents in the area.

According to him, the organisation supports education through scholarship schemes, assists schools with infrastructural needs and provides support to families struggling to meet basic needs.

He added that the foundation also sponsors grassroots sporting activities annually to encourage youth development and engagement in the community.

Osolana therefore urged Nigerians to use the season of fasting and reflection to pray for themselves, their families and the nation.

“My message is that people should use this period to pray for themselves and their families and ask God for something special. May this season bring blessings and positive changes for everyone.”

The Imam Agege Central Mosque and the Chairman old student Moricas, Alsheik Abdullah Abdulganiyu urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in prayer for the peace, unity, and progress of the country, noting that periods of spiritual reflection such as Ramadan provide an opportunity for citizens to seek divine guidance for the nation.
