Following the resounding success of its inaugural edition in Lagos, in 2025, the Excellence in Medicine (EIM) Ladies Network has concluded plans to host the 2026 Global Africa Women in Medicine (GAWIM) Summit.

Scheduled for March 21, 2026, at the Park Inn by Radisson, Abeokuta, the summit is themed: “Sustaining Leadership: From Practice to Boardroom.”

Convened by Dr. Olajumoke Ladapo, Founder of the GAWIM Summit and EIM Ladies Network, the summit serves as a vital catalyst for healthcare transformation across the continent.

“We are redefining what leadership in medicine looks like together. Our goal is to equip the next generation of female doctors with the tools, mentorship, and global networks necessary to transform healthcare systems globally,” says Ladapo.

More than just a conference, GAWIM 2026 is a movement designed to bridge the gap between clinical excellence and executive influence. The event is dedicated to empowering African women in medicine to command roles in health administration, academia, and corporate boardrooms.

The summit will feature a powerhouse of speakers who have shattered glass ceilings across the medical landscape and include Dr. Tomi Coker, Commissioner for Health, Ogun State as the Chief Keynote Speaker; Dr. OluToyin Akande-Ajala, CEO of JBS Gerontology Centre/Medicare Services as Chairperson of the day; Dr. Oluwabunmi Fatungase, CMD, OOUTH, Sagamu as Keynote Speaker; Dr. Olayinka Elemide, Permanent Secretary, Hospitals Management Board, Ogun State as Special Guest Speaker; and other distinguished guest speakers are Dr. Moyosore Taiwo Makinde, Dr. Olusegun Adebisi, Dr. Oge Ilegbune, and Dr. Francisca Inofomoh.

From high-impact panel discussions to strategic networking sessions, the summit is curated to tackle systemic challenges and propel women into decision-making positions.

A standout highlight will be a special tribute honoring African women who have pioneered significant breakthroughs in healthcare innovation and public health.

As African female doctors at all career stages look to build a lasting legacy, GAWIM 2026 stands as the premier platform for professional growth and sustainable healthcare transformation and an event that promises to be a catalyst for healthcare transformation across the continent.
