Foundation empowers 15 youths with training, tools

The God’s Promise In Action Foundation has graduated 15 beneficiaries of its skill empowerment trainings to make them self reliant, towards alleviating the level of poverty among the youths.

During the graduation ceremony in Abeokuta, Ogun State, seven beneficiaries who specialised in fashion designing got a sewing machine each, five beneficiaries from the shoe making department got modern shoe making tools, while the four beneficiaries from the hair dressing section got a hair drier each.

The event, the second graduation ceremony of the foundation, brought together Mayflower School, Ikenne, Old Students Association 68/72 set, Board of Trustees (BoT) members, parents and guardians of the graduating students and other well wishers.

The Chairman of the organisation’s BoT, Elder Samuel Olukotun, said the foundation’s objective is to alleviate the level of poverty in the country, by empowering the youths to be self reliant.

He said: “This present batch of graduands started with 20 students but some secured admission into tertiary institutions. We thank God we have 15 of them graduating today, having successfully completed their various trainings over the last one year.

He called on well meaning individuals and organisations to toe the path of assisting people in the society to reduce poverty to the barest minimum.

While presenting the tools to the graduands, the Olowu of Owu, His Rotal Majesty, Oba Saka Matemilola, commended Olukotun for the gesture.

He said: “The only way to support the upcoming ones is to skill them up. There are lots of people who are handy, once they get opportunity for this kind of practical skills, it also help them realise their entrepreneurial spirit.
